Cable Tv Frequencies
Anywho, I wonder if anyone can tell me the frequencies NTL use to
transmit their digital cable service? The reason I ask is that I want to
take my NTL cable signal and distribute around the home through a
distribution amp with return path, wired in such a way that I can plug
an STB or modem into any outlet around the house and it'll work right
off the bat. That in itself wouldn't be hard, but I also want to use the
same cabling for analogue and freeview TV off the antenna on the roof. I
should make clear at this point that I'm talking about the frequencies
on the cable side, not on the RF output of the box!
Sounds a little crazy I know, but it should be do-able as long as there aren't any clashes between the frequencies used by the TV companies and NTL cable. I know for a fact that the frequencies NTL use for their analogue service will cause a clash, but I can filter these out.
Does the digital service use just one frequency with the STB transmitting back to NTL and asking for a particular channel, or are all digital channels broadcast simultaneously and the box simply tunes into the channel it needs?
